Why dont you just widen the slot? Use a prybarvto gently open the gap where
its pinched...should work to resolve your issue...Hold at right angle to
mast with jaws in slot. Pull down on handle toward bottom of mast. This
should be done a few times moving the pry bar above and below the pinch.
