[Rhodes22-list] Cracks in keel

For those with the audacity to suggest that my lift is a bit overkill all I
can say is that, having now evaluated the situation through hindsight, I can
confidently report that it is actually ridiculous overkill.

It started as a much more modest idea and grew from there without me
applying critical reasoning or feeling that I was so far into the project
that I might as well finish it. That said, it has it uses as I have three
boats - a 16' pontoon boat, a 20' wooden outboard and the Rhodes and have
used the lift to work on the bottoms of each. Also I had a fear of working
on the keel while lying on my back with the keel a few inches above my head.
I wanted to be able to sit while working on it and be able to get up and
down more easily. I am 67 and getting up from a prone position every time I
need a tool is exhausting. All that is weak rationalization for the effort
and expense that was involved. Were I to do it again, I wouldn't. Given that
I now have it, it is useful if entirely not justifiable.

That's a nice lift, but a bit over kill in my opinion. Standard boat jacks
would allow you to work on the boat and you could just build a simple a
frame to lift the boat off of the trailer and on to the boat jacks. We did
that to load a boat onto the trailer and it works very well.
