[Rhodes22-list] Jib lines

Susan,

There is a proper procedure for changing the name of a sailing craft. Back
in 2004 a Rhodie by the name of Slim posted a complete procedure at:
http://www.rhodes22.org/pipermail/rhodes22-list/2004-August/016321.html

You really do not want to anger the gods or tempt fate when at sea.

Curtis,

My boat has 3 different places I can run the jib lines, the one closest to
the mast will allow for running closer to the wind I think. At least that
is what I was told, but don't know what degree difference it makes. Do you
know anything more?

Susan

Susan,

I've got my 1979 over in Havre de Grace, MD. That's 4 of us that i'm
tracking in the North Chesapeake. I've still got mine at the marina, hoping
to take my last sail this fall on Sunday, 17 knot winds and some reef
points. I've got a 170 and my upwind pointing angle is about 100 to
110 degrees. This would make racing quite difficult and I don't think the
~270 PHRF will compensate. Next season I hope to get my boat out for the
Thursday evening races in Havre de Grace. My goal is not finishing last
after PHRF is calculated.

BTW, good choice with the Rhodes 22. I love the cockpit layout for
single-handing.
