You all are making this too difficult. Remember Stan does things for
reasons and keeps it simple, for us of simple minds.
The slotted attachments of the bunks aren't meant to be tightened.
Just allow the bunks to move for when the boat is there and when it
isn't. The boat will be in slightly different places each time and
thus the bunks will curve slightly different each time.
The deflections in the hull will disappear when the boat is in the
   water.
When loading the boat, do not extend the stop, keep it all the way
forward, bring the boat as tight to there as you can. When driving out
if the water, the natural shift of the boat onto the trailer will
result in the boat being as far forward as it should. The tongue
weight will be minimal, but there should be some. If you have a
negative tongue weight, put the boat back in the water and reload.
After loading, extend the stop to the boat and tighten. This will
help to minimize boat bounce while running down the road.
   Hope that helps.

The trailer when I bought it had 2 2x6 boards on each side on top of each
other with carriage bolts going thru. I kept same arrangement when I
replaced them last year with treated boards and outdoor carpet. One of the
old boards I found to be cracked at a support where I noticed slight indent
in hull. -- Steve
