As long as you do not poke a hole in the sail, wisker pole on!  West Marine and other distributors, at lower cost, are  sources for a "proper wisker pole."  But hey....if it works for you sail on... {:>)

I started using this ski pole I had for a whisker pole. It seems to work
perfectly. Even though it doesn't extend, there are enough alternate places
to attach it for it to be effective. It attaches in seconds and is very
secure. I am not sure however what the long term affect it will have with
tension on the shroud as in the pic. Jim
