GB no longer (I think) uses screws but through bolts with stainless bolts, washers, and nuts. I can not remember size (1/4"?). When I popped the cap to replace the line on my '86 I found the blocks to be bent up and the plasmic on one gone and replaced all with all stainless blocks. I replaced the screws with the recommended bolts. As you are that far into it, I would take the cap off and inspect. If all is well, chalk it off as a learning experience.

The line looks good and it works. Some of the gelcoat is chipped off the cb. Three of the cb cap screws are mild steel and rusty.
