Bob:

If all you want to do is run a bead of sealant along the join then you do
not need to remove the rub rail. But expect to have to redo that fix on a
regular basis. If you want to seal the joint "permanently", you need to
remove the rail and the rivets that join the deck to the hull in order to
drive wedges into the join thereby opening it up in order to remove the old
stuff and inject the new.

We had a full discussion about this not long ago and Rummy posted detail
instructions and a suggestion for a good sealant. It would be well worth
looking up his post in the archives.

So do i gain any more access to the hull to deck joint by removing the
rubrail? Or is that joint accesible underneath the rail negating the need
to remove it?
Thanks

Bob
