For my 250 mile trip with my new Rhodes, I took it off. Being new to
Rhodesville, I didn't know if the mount could take a long highway trip and
carried it in truck. Rudder also. But sounds like Stan has engineered mount
for the weight.

Regardless, I'm glad I did remove motor because my guardian angel was
working overtime as it was - I suspect another 100 lbs on the transom would
have caused wheel to fail before end of trip. See picture below of it after
250 mile trip to my home. The other wheel had not seen grease in years -
rusty and dry with very little old grease in bearings and bearings near to
going. The yard obviously never touched it with grease.

In my defense against accusations of stupidity I :

1) Asked owner to have wheels greased - he in turn requested and was billed
by yard for greasing them. Repair shop showed old parts - the other wheel
had not seen grease in years - rusty and dry with very little old grease in
bearings and bearings near to going. Yard paid for repair but never
expressed regret.

2) I stopped twice during trip and put back of my hand on both bearings -
barely warm.
