Tohatsu gets consistently high marks from marina operators and outboard
service shops. They like the responsiveness of Tohatsu to parts requests and
Tohatsu often provides free replacements if something fails, even out of
warranty. Even so, Yamaha probably has 80% of the outboard market in
Florida. A number of Hondas (including ours) and relatively few Mercurys

Jay, if I were you, I would consider the Tohatsu line of outboards. Lots of
discussion on the list over the years, but it is basically the same engine
as the Mercury--with a lower price tag. You can order online with free
shipping.
