[Rhodes22-list] CDI Reefer I manual

Hi Gary:

Believe it or not, after 7+ years of promises and false estimates of
completion dates, I am virtually finished the restoration and will be in a
position to launch Agile within days. Hopefully she floats. One complication
is the water level on Lake Ontario being at the 100 year high. I might have
to wait until the water level drops a bit to ensure that my pier provides
adequate protection.

I have a few pre-launch things to do such as find my mooring, set the lines
for the rudder, install a masthead light and sort out a few problems with
the furling gear but otherwise, with a couple of days without torrential
rain, I am ready to go. Because I keep my boat at my house it is easier to
launch the boat at a nearby ramp and motor it home before raising the mast.
Once the boat is launched I will need to raise the mast and ensure that the
rigging is still appropriate given the changes I made to the location of the
inner chain plates. I also need to work out an arrangement for the traveller
and if I am going to go the route of suspending the traveller on the back
stays I need the mast up to decide on the plan details.

It has been a long haul to restore Agile as it became a much more
substantial effort than what I had intended when I started. So it is kind of
nice to see it finished. It also frees me up a bit to get going on the deck
restoration of my mahogany power boat.

Graham,

I've got the right vintage boat (1978), but mine came with a replacement non
CDI furler, so can't help you there. How is your boat coming along?

Gary

I know it is a long shot but I am wondering whether anyone with an older
Rhodes might have the old CDI (Cursing Design) Reefer I and if so, whether
they might have a copy of the manual that they might use to send me a
digital copy. This furler has 5' sections of solid aluminum foils that are
joined together with aluminum "torque links". It is not the flexible furler
sold today. Even the manufacturer can't supply a copy of the manual. I used
to have one but it but I made the mistake of putting in a some safe place
-ensuring that it will never be found. I would like to avoid having to buy a
new system and having the instructions might help me avoid that.

Thanks,
Graham
