[Rhodes22-list] Mounting a GPS unit

Bob,

I’ve drilled quite a few holes in my Rhodes, but I try not to drill any more than I have to, especially when it involves the exterior fiberglass shell.

Being unfamiliar with the Dragonfly, I googled it and ended up on the Raymarine page for the product. In looking around, I noticed that one of it’s touted ‘Key Features’ is the ability to ‘Mount Anywhere’. The description of this feature includes a link with the text “Find out more about RAM Mounts after market mounting systems”. Clicking on that link brings up a pop-up window with four RAM products including a ’Tough-Claw Mount’ that looks like it might be able to clamp to the Pop-Top support tube, and a ’Suction Cup Mount’ that might also be a less invasive solution.

Do you think one of these might solve your problem?

If you do end up drilling holes and using a sealant, use one that’s not also an adhesive.
