[Rhodes22-list] Where to find parts?

Alexis,

I sincerely doubt that an anchor rode port leak has much to do with the
condensate on the ceiling of the v-berth.

I have only seen condensation like that when there was a good deal of water
in the forward bilge area (under the cabin sole or under the v-berth) and
the temperatures are cool enough at night to permit the warm water vapor to
condense on the ceiling at night. This sometimes happens when daytime and
sea water temperatures are warm and humidity is high but the nights are very
cool.

Where is the boat located? Do you have adequate ventilation to remove
humidity and moisture during the day? Is there water in the bilge? I would
not try to seal the anchor rode port but rather install a cowl vent in place
of the cap to permit the moisture to escape.

Alex,

That hatch is for the anchor rode. The attached screenshot is from Defender
Marine ( www.Defender.com<http://www.Defender.com> ):

If it's leaking, the most likely culprit is a bad O-ring seal. The new
snap-in deck plate will have a fresh O-ring. You might also check the
O-ring sealing surface on the female part of the deck plate. It's possible
that some dirt got in there and it's preventing the O-ring on the snap-in
plate from making a proper seal.

Note that there should also be a snap-in low profile cowl vent that fits the
deck plate:

At anchor, that cowl vent really helps ventilate the cabin.

Also, there should be a plastic hose and a thru hull in the bow to drain the
anchor locker. If the water is not drained, it will reflux and tend to
condense on the V-berth overhead. The bracket probably broke because the
locker got full of water and the weight overloaded the bracket.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Where to find parts?

Hi there,

I found today that there was quite a lot of water on the ceiling of the
V-berth of my boat (see attached picture). Fortunately, there's some kind of
triangular bucket that collects this water, so nothing got damaged in the
V-berth.

I found that the inspection hatch that is at the bow of the boat was the
culprit for this leak. I went to West Marine but couldn't find a
replacement. The inside diameter is 3-1/2", but the smallest that was
available in store was 4".

My questions are:
- What is this hatch used for?
- Should I replace this hatch with an identical one, or should I open a
larger hole to fit a 4" hatch?
- If I should get an identical hatch, any idea where I can find one?

I would also like to replace the plastic frame of the cockpit shelves. One
of them is broken, but again, West Marine doesn't seem to have that in
store. Do you happen to know where I can find replacement parts?

Pictures attached so that you can see what I mean.

Thanks!
Alexis
