The cdi furler has flexible foil that includes a slot for the sail and a slot for the halyard. The GB furler has a metal tube.

Ah, ok, this makes a lot more sense for the drum!

I am still surprised the pole/tube is metal though. Mine is plastic and flexible. You can see it in the middle of the picture I’m attaching here.

I don’t have close-ups though, sorry.

Sorry, I am confusing you. I am talking about the Jib Furler, not the In Mast Furler for the main sail. I edited my first post (title and content) to clarify. My apologies. Your pictures make more sense to me now.
