Subject: [Rhodes22-list] I Just Bought a Rhodes

Well...at 73 I’m taking on a new challenge...I’m going to learn to sail.

Yesterday I bought a 1986 R22 refurbished in 2010. My new sailing buddy whom
I bought the boat from took me out for a couple of hours sailing yesterday
and I loved it.

I know some may think it strange, but I met with Stan this morning in
Edenton asking many questions and I handed him a check for the Certificate
of Support. I’ve spent many hours researching the Rhodes list on all manner
of subjects including the C of S. It just seemed like the right thing to do
even though the future of General Boats is maybe uncertain.

I’ll be keeping the boat in a boatyard on its trailer with the mast up
across from the launching ramps at Southport Marina in Southport NC.

The boat doesn’t have a name on the side although I believe two owners back
it was called Nautisuarus based out of Chesapeake Bay.

My name for the boat will be “Knotty Lady”. I looked at a list of 27,000
names for actual boats and my choice of name didn’t show up...hopefully
there aren’t hundreds of other boats out there with the same name.

The list is a great resource and I’m sure I’ve just scratched the surface
looking through all the different threads.

I’m sure I will have many questions for the list as I learn to sail and get
to know my boat.
