Do you know whether the seat base is thru-bolted or are those just sheet metal screws?  It should be thru-bolted with a big backing plate on the underside.  Judging from the picture, my guess is the seat base was just attached with sheet metal screws.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Damaged Fiberglass where Swivel Captains Seat Inserts

I’m seriously considering buying an R22 which has some fiberglass damage on
the port side captains seat mounting area. When the seat is inserted,, it
wobbles around due to the damaged fiberglass. Has anyone else had this
happen and if so, how difficult is it to repair. I will try to attach a
photo.
