While looking for a line drawing, I came across this description of how the
Boat came about :

Background to the Design

General Boats commissioned this design.  Stan Spitzer had some ideas for
this micro-cruiser, including the flared hull shape that characterizes the
505 design.  Phil Rhodes accepted the challege of designing the boat around
Stan's ideas.  The design process went on for a year, during with time the
boat grew from 21' to 22'.  It finally emerged from the Phil Rhodes office
at Lexington Ave. N.Y. as design number 804, listed as a 21' fiberglass
sloop "Rhodes Continental" for General Boats, 1968.

Rhodes provided only a sketchy cabin lines drawing and the final cabin
design was done by Ten Eyes Associates, an industrial design company in
Wichita KS known for their airplane design work.   Additional design changes
came about from the direct sales policy of General Boats via user feed-back.

The Rhodes 22 was Phil Rhodes's last small boat design and it is a genuine
Rhodes with aesthetics assistance from a professional design team. 
Interestingly enough, while it does not look like the typical Rhodes of his
earlier work, Phil seemed to grow fond of this strange boat and was in the
habit of visiting it each year at the NY Boat Show.  Its interior, with a
dinette/double bed to port and a linear galley to starboard is reminiscent
of the arrangement of the 41 foot Rhodes Reliant.
