[Rhodes22-list] Rope Luff Pad

I’m still so new to sailing, I keep noticing things on my boat I didn’t know
existed.

When I took my Doyle 175 Genoa down to take it in for repairs I noticed a
rope in a pocket next to the luff. After a little research I’m guessing this
a rope luff pad and I think I know what a luff pad is supposed to do. But my
research seems to say the luff pad should be thicker in the middle of the
sail and smaller at the top and bottom. Many websites describing rope luff
pads mentioned 3 different length ropes to achieve the greater middle
thickness.

I have one rope which runs almost the entire length of the luff to within
18” of the top and bottom. Is this how it’s done on Rhodes 22 175 Genoa?
