[Rhodes22-list] Self-tending jib

Reuben,

While GB's system does not entail giving up on your existing furling
genoa (and for anyone reading over Reuben's shoulder, is a lot simpler,
and maintains the Rhodes unencumbered bow deck), GB's approach to a ST
Jib does require a 5 fast pin set up on those days you want to be using
it instead of, or in concert with, your always in place furling genoa.

If the trade offs nevertheless have your sailing comfort preferring the
Hoyt system you had on prior boats, I am for your going with Mark's Hoyt
offer.  (The only set up frustration you had with getting to try the GB
system is they ran the ST jib halyard through the wrong mast top
sheaves. It was supposed to use the one block mounted specifically for
this halyard on the leading face of the mast, not also through either of
the two /spare/ sheaves on the very top of the mast. Since once
correctly installed on the mast using its own exclusive block, the ST
jib halyard's routing remains cleated on the mast so this initial error
can never be repeated.)

As others have pointed out you lose some speed, especially down wind cause it’s a smaller jib but on the other hand it’s a pleasure to sit back and tack by just moving the tiller. I await Stan’s new and improved design
