The motor lift is an off the shelf item that can be purchased, replaced, serviced without proprietary or custom efforts. The automated lift is a pair off the shelf electronic actuators controlled by a synchronized switch that allows both to work in tandem and raise and lower the west marine lift with a toggle self-release switch. The cost is dependent on positive support, supply and demand as are the other improvements and suggestions that have been offered and promoted these past few years.

Chris,

It is an impressive piece of engineering. How well protected from salt spray and intrusion are the motors? It appears that the lift is provided by twin lead screw devices. Is it difficult to maintain identical motion between the two? Do they synchronize when in the full up or down position? What is the current draw for the system? Who manufactures the system? I couldn't find it on the West Marine site.

Now, the big question, "What is the system cost?"

Below is a link to a video showing a standard west marine lift with electric arms, the switch is a toggle rather than on off to prevent over-ride.
