[Rhodes22-list] Motor Mount Question

Rodney,

I went with the Torqeedo 1103 CL (long shaft), which has a 915 WH lithium-ion battery. So far, so good. My wife and I went for a sail the other day, and after using the motor to get in and out of the marina, and occasionally to go in search of better wind on a mild day on the lake, it still had 81% capacity left when we got back. It’s pricey, but for me it’s a good investment to save my back and the frustrations I’ve had with my gasoline motor. Torqeedo had a promotion in July that included travel bags and an extended warranty, so I took advantage of that. They shipped it very promptly and I had it within a matter of days. I considered the ePropulsion, but I read too many reports of people paying deposits and waiting months for the motor to arrive, if at all, and their customer service was not very responsive when I sent them an inquiry about where to buy one. Torqeedo, on the other hand, answered my e-mail questions very promptly. I like that I can leave the motor in the cabin and just bring the battery home to recharge when needed.

I’m a convert to electric motors in general. I have an electric chainsaw and weed-eater, and one of these days I’ll spring for an electric car or truck.

So my radical change is to sell it (anyone interested?) and invest in a Torqeedo. I have used the electric motor only a couple of times so far, but I love it — and it works very well with the 7:1 motor mount on the Rhodes. I realize this is not responsive to your question about alternative motor mounts, but I thought I would share what I have done.
