I forgot to include the URL for the cushion source I mentioned. https://www.cushionsource.com/

I got my new cabin cushions here and was quite satisfied with both price and quality. You can specify the fabric and interior with a considerably large number of options. When my cushions arrived one of the cushions had the zipper on the wrong side. They replaced the entire cushion immediately.

Alex,

I recently replaced both my cockpit cushions. After checking with Stan for a source (which he was not able to provide), I got a local auto/marine upholstery shop to make them to my specifications. I supplied them with the materials (from Sailrite) which consisted of:

CushionRite Dry Fast Antimicrobial Open Cell Foam (water pours right through this.) I got mine in 2" thick firm and they are comfortable. Sailrite has this in a 48" x 80" size which would make 2 cushions. Make sure you get the Dry Fast version. My previous cushions were closed cell foam which I would have slightly preferred but I had trouble finding that in the right size.
Phyfertex standard vinyl mesh fabric on top and sides (8 yards @ 54" wide). Of course, Sunbrella or any other outdoor fabric would be fine.
Naugahyde vinyl welting (64')
YKK #5 plastic zippers (package of 5 pulls and 15' of continuous chain) Super Grip Nonslip Cushion Underlining Black (2 yards @ 54"). This perforated sticky rubberized material is on the underside of the cushions and prevents them from sliding off the seats when heeling.

As a rule of thumb, you need to allow an extra 3" for each seam and don't forget to add the side panels to your calculations.

Materials cost for two cushions was about $500 and my shop charged me about $100 each for the labor so the total was about $350 for each cushion. If you go this route, make sure your shop understands that these cushions are not rectangular--one end needs to be narrower than the other and that they need to be mirror images. My shop got it wrong the first time even though I gave them the old one to match!

I had a stupid attack after a cruise. The cockpit cushions were scrubbed and placed on my roof rack to dry when I got home. I unexpectedly needed to disconnect and use my boat hauler the next morning. Yup, no coffee and now no cushions. I found one in a ditch. I’ve even checked all the dumpsters on my route.
I know Stan is unreachable durning Annapolis and am unsure if he’s doing much anyway. If anybody talks to him, can he sell me a new set? They are very nice for full days without autopilot, and to hide my iPad navigation from the heat of the sun.
If not, does anybody have ideas for ordering custom? I lack the stern one for a template.

Thanks, Alex
