[Rhodes22-list] Bow pulpit problem

Hello Rhodies,
My town marina has a strict 22-foot maximum length rule, measured from the
aft-most D-rings on the transom to the furthest point at the bow. From what
I understand, the Rhodes 22's bow pulpit adds about 9–12 inches, which
could put me over the limit. I’m exploring ways to reduce the boat’s
effective length when stored at the marina and would really appreciate any
feedback or suggestions on the following ideas:
1. *Remove the bow pulpit entirely* – Would I regret not having it?
2. *Reposition the pulpit* – Mount it further aft so that the front edge
aligns with the bow. Not sure if there’s enough clearance for the jib, or
if this is structurally feasible.
3. *Make it retractable* – Add hinges to the rear supports and a
detachable, lockable pin or bracket for the front. Swing it back when
docked to reduce length.
Open to any other creative solutions as well.
Thanks,
John
