HI Peter 
Seems much easier to run wire to the Laz from the port or starboard sides, under the cockpit seats. 
I ran new starter cables and a 12V wire to the Laz for Laz and under port side cockpit seat for  LED  lighting without much difficulty. 
That way your wires remain somewhat accessible. 
Digging through the foam seams like an unnecessary hardship to me.
