Hi William,

Your attachment didn’t come thru.  By “spreader cups” do you mean the fittings on the end of the spreaders that secure the upper side stays?  Or, do you mean the rubber covers that cover the end of the spreader to protect the Genoa from chafe when sailing close hauled?

If you meant the fittings, they have set screws you can tighten.  The rubber boots must be lashed onto the spreader and the side stays with whipping twine and then covered with rigging tape.  The rigging tape is sacrificial and protects the whipping twine from chafe and UV damage.

Hopefully, this answers your question.  But, if not, give me a little more detail.
