McMaster-Carr is a great source for nuts and bolts and screws, but also for bits of obscure hardware like this.  They call this a 'spring plunger'.  I'm not sure what size you need, but they come in a variety of sizes, and there are detailed drawings of each size.  And they are available in stainless steel.
