Paul,

For a while some people will post on one list and some on the other while
everyone migrates over to Michael's list. You have to stay on both until
you are not worried about missing something on the Sailnet list. Until then
you will get a lot of double posting. At some point we will all post to
Michael's new list, and tell people asking questions on the Sailnet list to
subscribe to Michael's list to get the answers to their questions.

Sailnet provided a valuable service for a long time, and I think we should
support them for their effort. However, as they sought a way to make money,
the service we originally subscribed to declined. I agree with Michael that
the General Boats site is feeding the Sailnet site, not the other way
around.

The simplest way to tell which list the message came from is to look at the
"R" in the subject line containing "[rhodes-list]" in brackets. If the "r"
is lower case it came from Sailnet. If the "R" is uppercase it came from
Michael's list. Also, Michael's list is "[Rhodes22-list]" but I find the
initial r to be the quickest tip-off regarding origin. We should always
copy Michael's list when responding to the Sailnet list. At some point no
one will miss anything if they drop the Sailnet subscription. Each person
will have to make their own decision on that one, however we should all post
every answer to Michael's list as soon as possible to speed the migration.

The simplest way to tell where your message is going to is to look at the
end of the To: line. If it ends in ".net" it is going to Sailnet. If it
ends in ".org" it is going to Michael's list.

Double check by looking for "22". Michael's list is specific to the
Rhodes22. Sailnet is not.

As mentioned by someone earlier, a few people will continue to monitor the
Sailnet list, forwarding people and email to Michael's list.

Bill Effros
