Dick how do you keep the knot small enough as to not get hung up when
tacking?

Joe the size of the Genoa doesn't matter, The length of the lines for any
furled genoa will be the same.  Use  1.5 x boat length for each sheet or
in your case you'd need a line of about 70' to account for the knot in
the middle.

I use two  35' lines one red and one green.  Use your own sensibilities
as to what color pleases you best.
