[Rhodes22-list] Help! My tongue is stuck!

Walter, Mark,

On most of (all so far) the ramps I have used. the tongue extension is more
trouble than it is worth. I find that with the extension out the trailer
doesn't want to clear the ground as I pull back over the top crown of the
ramp. Do that too often and you're gonna bend something. How much extension
do you need???? There's no reason to use all of it if you don't need it.
Pull it out to where you feel is "far enough" and drill new locating holes
for the pins. I have often thought that 10 feet was kind of a stretch for
the 4 inch square tube. She gets pretty flexy and I'm not surprised to hear
that some are bending under the strain. Especially if you have been able to
get your boat way ahead and have a heavy tongue weight. If 5 feet is all you
need, then pull her out that far and drill your new pin holes accordingly. 5
feet with this size tubing and this load seems a little more realistic to
me.

Rik
