I suppose it could. I've never tried the horizontal-only orientation but the
holder grips pretty tightly. We're going out this afternoon - I'll give it a
test and will let you know.

One other thing to be aware of - we ordered a pair of them. One of them is
slightly smaller (not by design - it's a manufacturing issue, I think) than
the other on the inside. A can of beer, uh, I mean "barley pop" is snug. I
prefer the slightly larger one because it's easier to get the can out.
