Roger, thanks much for the info.  You always have such a good explanation of 
how things "work" for us newbies.  It makes purchases so much easier to have 
some idea of what the salesperson is talking about!  If I remember, I saw 
some depth finders that are mounted on the transom - didn't sound like a 
great set-up.  IF that is the case, what is your opinion?
