Here are two photos of the forward starboard seat drain on my '84
Rhodes22.
It was in the boat when I bought it but the plastic hose cracked last
summer
so I replaced it in the fall. Seems to work fine except if the leaves
cover
it up. It is the only forward corner drain on the boat but because of
my
slip configuration I board from that side and there is never any
standing
water in the seat channels by the time I climb in.

Good solution Roger.

Gentlemen,

My 1976 R-22 came with drain holes in the front corners of the gutters
in
the cockpit seats. When the boat was unoccupied or everyone was in the
cabin, the fore/aft trim caused rain water to leak into the bilge from
these
cockpit seat drains. I epoxied up the corner drain holes & moved them
back
about 4". However, I also added two little blobs of epoxy under the
seats
along the underside of the gutters fore & aft of the new drain holes.
If
any water started running along the underside of the seats in either
direction, it would always drip off when it came to the little blobs of
epoxy. Viola! Instant bulletproof low tech solution. I've been
sailing
this way since 1989.
