I have seen what your talking about but with a
varriation. Use the same type of anchor roller (the
kind with a large U bolt on top; your drawing looks
that way).  Except pull it back and bolt it in a more
normal spot.  Use a spinnaker pole.  Run it thru the
anchor roller and adjust it to about 3 feet in front
of the boat with outmost tip centered.  Use that for
your guide on where to stop & Bolt anchor roller. 
Mount a spinaker holder into the deck for the back of
the spinaker pole.  The guy used a piece of teak for a
spacer inbetween the that U bolt on the anchor roller
and the spinaker pole.  The setup worked quite well, I
thought.  The spinaker pole takes the beating and as
long as you mount the anchor roller and the rear mount
well, the load gets spread out acrose the foredeck.
