Wally,
Your mom was right to take you down there to see that. What better way to
learn about these events than to be there.  Honestly, I'm not trying to
one-up you here but I shook JFK's hand when I was 6.  It was simply
explained to me that this is the boss of our country.  As I watched his
speech, I was glad this guy was in charge--such charisma, even effecting a 6
year old boy.  I felt comforted by his very person.  I remember him saying
he was on his way to Dallas.  It was one of the last speeches he made.
