Rummy,
Now you are attributing all the improvement to the bottom job,
but did you also tweak the sails?
I was also out there Saturday evening, at times we had waves,
but the wind was just right to move thru them.

Slim,
It isn't so much what was applied, but the repairs that were done. Rum
Runner had developed a really bad case of blisters when I purchased her
several years ago. The previous owner never had done anything to the
bottom, so this is not a GB defect, but a dumb owners problem. I had put
off doing the repairs because, as you know, sailing is more important
than
doing maintenance. The bottom was lightly sandblasted to remove the
blisters. The hull was allowed to dry thoroughly and then three coats of
Interlux barrier coat were applied. The final coating was three more
layers
of Interlux CSC Plus. It gave me a really nice, clean and smooth bottom.
The three coats of anti-fouling should last several years without any
cleaning.
The clean, algae free bottom slides nicely through the water. I still
have
some more cleaning and fine tuning to do, but it was fun sailing last
night
in 10 knot winds.
Thanks to Captain Bob Keller (Yankee Cliupper), Rum Runner has new name
decals on each side. She is once again, a classy looking lady.

Rummy
