The Hudson river from about the GW bridge to points north where salt water no longer has an effect on the eco system is by definition part of a tidal estuary. Not unlike the SF bay system wich runs all the way to Sacrament over 100 miles away. It is connected to and is part of a delta. Also not unlike the Chesepeke system.
