Rod,
I have sailed with another R22 with this setup and I can't say whether it's
any better than what I have or knot. I was unhappy with the factory
arrangement that came with my boat, so I installed a cam cleat on the
side of the boom to lock the outhaul. Because the boom isn't flat, I
machined a piece of plastic to conform to the booms curvature on one side
and then mounted the cam cleat on the remaining flat side. It works much
better than using the standard cleats. Two stainleed screws hold the entire
thingy together. I have a good supply of small plastic pieces if you want
to make one yourself.
