Fretless came with a four prong plug only 2 were used for the steaming
light. I ran a new 4 wire cable up the mast 2 for the steaming light the
other two for the mast head. Connected another 2 wire cable from the
female end of the connector to my circuit panel.

I am having a similar problem as you are. I don't want to put another large
hole in my mast step to install a connector for my new vhf mast head
antenna cable. The thru deck connectors available from Defender or West
Marine are to short to go completely through the deck so to use one I would
have to scoop out some core material so that the inside cable will fit up
onto the connector. Would like to avoid that if possible. There's always
something else.
