Hi Bryan,

Unlike Roger, I mounted my ST-1000 without using the pedestal. I have a
tiller extender that rests on top of the tiller of my '93 Rhodes 22. Raytheon
sells a bracket that attaches under the tiller so the drive unit is level when
mounted directly on the gunnel.

The key to installing the receptacle for the servo drive pin is to first glue
an oak block under the gunnel to the fiberglass where you will drill the
hole. Then use a half inch Forstner bit to drill the hole for the receptacle into
the fiberglass and oak. You can get a Forstner bit at Amazon.com.

I have used my ST-1000 up to ten hours steady in following seas. It worked
all the time and never got tired. And my gunnel fiberglass is pristine.

Fred
