Barry and Joyce,

If there's nothing keeping the rudder pins from popping out of the gudgeons
(the boat-side of the hinge), get a small stainless steel hose clamp and
install it on one of the pins below the gudgeon. This will keep the rudder
from popping out at an inopportune time.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Where did the rudder go?

I was noticing that except for a rope that ties off to a nearby cleat, the
rudder hangs on to two supports like a gate hangs onto a post. The rudder is
quite heavy. I just wanted to be sure I am not overlooking something. It
does not lock on or is pinned or anything else.
It is is hinged so it can be drawn up out of the water when launched from
a trailer or moored while in the water.
The mast is my next challenge. My wife and I raised it in the yard and
realized we are not going to survive this without a mast hoist crane. The
mast is still up and is going to stay up until I am sure I have enough help
to lower without dropping it on my head. Or someone elses head.
Barry & Joyce CC NV.
