[Rhodes22-list] Modems and connect speed

Todd,

You can call your local phone company and ask them to do a "line check" for
you and they should be able to do it right on the spot. Tell them you're
thinking about getting DSL (which won't work if the phone lines won't
support it) and you want to know if it'll work. They should be able to tell
you what your maximum connect speed is. They might also tell you that
they'll be upgraded and ready for DSL in X number of months, or whatever.

But you're right, living in the boonies is not going to help you get a
faster connection, although you probably didn't move there in the first
place to get faster internet connection. 8-) I envy people in the boonies!
I take it there's no cable TV there either? As you probably know, the cable
TV coaxial cable can accommodate a very high speed connection too. That's
what I have and it's killer! But then I'm in very urban Minneapolis.

Slim

P.S. Thanks again for the advice on converting a paint file to jpg. How'd
ya like my snowman? I'm thinking of giving up the vast fame and fortune of
my musical career and going into graphic arts. 8-)
