Thanks for the tips. I have heard of that book and will get it. I'm
located in Knoxville, TN so am in reasonable striking distance for a week
long (or long weekend) trip. I hope to get down there early in the spring.

Bill,
I used the Crusing guide to coastal Georgia and SC by Claiborne Young and
it
was pretty good. I also had a paper chart and a handheld GPS with the area
chart - that was a nice convenience. The marina has adequate showers and
rest rooms. I would say they are average to above-average, and the people
were great as I left my trailer and vehicle there all week without a
problem. The parking lot is large and was mostly empty and the launch ramp
is really nice and has a large dock both next to the ramp and it extends
off
to the side quite a distance. People are allowed to dock there, just not
overnight. Having the adjacent dock made launching and retrieval pretty
easy-I pulled the boat up onto the trailer from the dock, and when
launching
I just pulled it over and tied it off on the dock. Was also able to step
and unstep the mast in the parking lot with plenty of room. Nice,
trailer-friendly location, just watch for the steep ramp!
