[Rhodes22-list] Joke: Dear Abby

Hmmm.... Possibly because of the differences in their approach. Those 184 Texans (actually, many of them weren't Texans, they were just defending Texas) were fighting soldier that knew they were in a battle. The other 184 you are killing innocent bystanders in an effort to instill fear in all.

Bill, surely you're bright enough to see the difference without help?

Never have I called a Texan parviscient! I can say this without fear of contradiction because I had never even heard the word until today. Thank you for this little gift. In the future I may call Oklahomans parviscient. I may call New Mexicans parviscient. But I will never call Texans parviscient! On this word you have my word.

On a more serious note, can you explain why some people believe 184 Texans on a suicide mission defending their country from invaders are noble heros, while 184 Iraqi suicide bombers defending their country from invaders are crazy fanatics?

Just wondering.

It's not Bushes name sir....it's Texas. And yes, we can laugh at ourselves
here, but it's beyond chiding to classify us as bucolic, perverted,
parviscient, uneducated buffoons, even in a joke. Why promulgate vile jokes
at all? Yea I know, just set my email filters...but then it eliminates
other jokes with less inflammatory motives.

Ah well...maybe you won't get it anyway, it's kind of a "do unto others"
thing. Now that I've said my piece, and expressed the indignation of a
proud Lone Star citizen, I'll go back to my ivory tower and plan this
weekends sail - We're looking at continued SSE winds here through Sun, then
a turn towards the north, so I'm going to try and sail up to Port Mansfield
(about 35 miles up the coast along the ICW) then back (remain over night
there), and time it so I have favorable winds the whole way. Will leave
Sun, and return Tue in order to cast my "vote".... I will feel more like
grieving than celebrating regardless of outcome. It's the gospel from the coast

BTW that "boneheaded action" won Texas its eventual freedom and ultimate
sovereignty from an oppressive dictatorship. Must we descend into bitter
battle again? Please, no pissing on the Alamo!

for that which I firmly believe, for I know it is just and right. One life
is a small price for a cause so great. As I fought, so shall I be willing
to die. I will never forsake Texas and her cause.
-I am her son" -

for his belief in freedom)
