to answer your question apparrrently the centerboard failed at the pin >  I did recover the board as the line to raise the board saved it from the murky deep.  Nevertheless once I dismantled the board , The boat sailed fine w/o it!  In fact we passed a Catalina 30 on a close reach again in light air.   I am of the opinion with the 175% set up the Rhodes has a good turn of speed when winds are 5-10 MPH.
