Mark,
Have you given Stan your budget? For $100 he puts you on his
serious to buy list. Recycled boats come and go all the time from Edenton.
Is that really to far? As I said, I bought a recycled from Stan. Give him
your budget, if he can find something within, he will get it for you. Many
of his recycled boats were never posted to the list. He has secret sources
which only he knows.
Now I am gone again for a few hours.

Steve, Ed, et al,

I don't know why everyone has the idea that I'm trying to go cheap. That is
not the case at all. As I stated earlier, I'm just trying to find one in
about the same condition/price range as yours. It would also be even better
if it were closer to home than say, Wisconsin.

I bought an '87 Rhodes 2 years ago (unrecycled) from the 2nd owner. The

boat was in very good condition, had never been in salt water and came

complete with original single axel trailer, pop top canvas cover, both

furling sails (IMF main & jib) and a working 4 HP two stroke outboard. I

paid $6,000 for the package. You probably won't find anything in good

"ready to sail" condition for much less than that.

Good luck, Stephen Staum

Mark,

I bought a 1984 recycle from Stan some years ago. Any older used

boat will be that, a used boat. I have been happy with what I got from

Stan. I knew it was a used boat.

Not everybody has been perfectly happy with Stan, but most have.

Keep the fact that you are working with a used boat in perspective all the

time.

My boat is out of the water right now. I had to get a sail fixed.

With the help of Mr. Rummy, that has been finished.

I could put the boat back in the water today and go sailing with Mr.

Rummy and Captain Bob. However, I am trying to make some cosmetic fixes to

a couple of dings. I have made good progress on them, but not enough warm

days to complete them.

Some old trailers have made long trips ok and some have had

problems. The problems generally have had to do with bearing failures. I

would be willing to take an old trailer on such a trip as you mentioned as

long as I took replacement parts with me. Such a list of parts would likely

include spare tire; spare bearings that fits; complete extra set of lug

bolts and nuts that fit that wheel; and maybe a u-bolt assembly that hold

the springs to the frame. An extra jack and wood blocks to support the

trailer if I had to work on it would be a consideration.

You just might just see what Stan has in the recycle department. He

also recycles trailers.
