Lou,
	You said that you would use your awl to make the hole to inject.  I
would use a drill.  Using a drill is less likely to expand the fissure.
Drill holes can be deeper to allow more epoxy to creep into the substrata.
Drill holes will give you a better idea of the condition deeper.  Several
drill holes will allow more epoxy to be injected.  After making the holes,
dry sawdust can be put in as structural reinforcement.  Creeping or seeping
epoxy is a proven modern repair system.  Do not mix all your epoxy at one
time, as you will likely have to put it in the hole two or more times as it
soaks or seeps in.
