I thought this information was worthwhile enough to pass on.

Subject: [tayana] Miscreant Merchant - Nautical Promotions

At the Annapolis Boat show, October 7, 2004, I ordered 10 mast steps and a
chimney for a trawler lamp from

NAUTICAL PROMOTIONS
200 2nd Avenue South, #255
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
888.860.8060, 619.723.3756 (Cell)
www.nauticalpromotions.com

My credit card was charged immediately but I have never received the items I
ordered.
At the show, I was told the items were in stock and I would receive them
within 10 days to two weeks.

On 11/16/2004, I contacted the merchant (Brenda) and she informed me the
items were "due in any day" and that they would be shipped "immediately."

On 1/6/2005, three months after placing my order, I had still not received
the items. I contacted the merchant (again, Brenda), and told her I had not
received my order and that she had until 1/14/2005 to deliver my goods or I
would dispute t he charges on my credit card. She again told me the items
were due in "any day now" and asked that I not contact my credit card folks
since she would be charged a fee. I explained to her:

1. Three MONTHS was outside the realm of reason to receive items promised
within two weeks.

2. She charged me immediately upon taking my order with no regard to
availability (they told me all items were in stock).

3. I had given her numerous opportunities to make good (in addition to calls
in November and January, I called in December.I didn't write the date/time
down so in fairness, I did not include that in the "facts" above) and she
failed to do so.

Today, 1/17/2005, I have contacted my credit card company and disputed the
charges with this merchant. I did not receive the items promised by
1/14/2005 and, in fact, I have NEVER been contacted by anyone at Nautical
Promotions to provide me order status or any information whatsoever. I
think I have been more than fair/patient in providing them the opportunity
to do the right thing.

I report this as a warning/cautionary note to anyone doing business with
this firm. I know they attend the Miami Boat show and plan to attend the
show in Philadelphia in addition to the Annapolis event. Hopefully, this
will encourage yo u to only buy things that they have with them (personally,
for obvious reasons, I'd encourage you to keep walking past their booth)
rather than rely on inventory, future shipping, and even the most modest
attempts at customer service.

One final note, the 888 number cited above does not work. Apparently, the
cell phone number listed is Brenda's.she seems to answer it exclusively.
