Alan,
One thing to be aware of (and I didn't really think about it until someone
pointed it out).  There is a support post (mine is part of a dividing wall)
under the mast that transfers the force and weight of the mast down to the
keel.  Do Not Remove It (and check to make sure it is there).  you can see
it in.
