Will - If the Rhodes you spotted at Hancock Harbor was on Friday, June 24,
it would have been our Sunday Morning - Wife (Andy) and I were in the midst of
the second leg of our passage from Edenton to Avalon, NJ. We started out
Friday morning from the Bohemia River and made it thru the C & D with the fair
tide. Wind was on the nose starting down the Delaware (I guess it's still
the River there, but it seems like the Bay to me), but less than 10 kn, so
conditions weren't bad. About even with the Salem Plant, however, the wind piped
up and so did the whitecaps and chop - we had about 4 hours of pretty tough
going, and pulled into the Cohansey River about 6:00. We tied up at Hancock
Harbor for the night and then departed about 6:30 Sat morning to catch a good
bit of the fair tide toward Cape May. Conditions were much better, (but as
it always seems in the Delaware Bay, wind still on the nose) - and we did
make it back to Avalon Sat afternoon.
We chose the Rhodes in '94 over the other "finalists" on our short list
- Precision, Compac and Seaward -, believing it to be ideal for our
conditions in Avalon - the right choice. We're still fans of the Rhodes and Stan's
refit work over the winter was great.

    s/v Sunday Morning
