Alan,

Regarding how the bench turns to a sleeping area:

Use the talbe to fill in the gap, then use the backrest cushions. I'm still
looking for the directions (they are around somewhere), but basically the
forward cushion on the backrest becomes the aft cushion on the bed. The aft
cushion on the backrest becomes the forward cushion on the bed. One of them
gets turned 90 deg. It isn't hard to figure out, if your cushions are the
right shape to begin with. The pics on the site show the process:
http://www.rhodes22.org/rhodes/pics/settee.jpg
http://www.rhodes22.org/rhodes/pics/Table1.jpg
http://www.rhodes22.org/rhodes/pics/Berth1.jpg It is a bit hard to tell, but
that center cushion is on top of the table, which is the same size and shape
as the gap in the settee.

Regarding the floor... You should have a bilge access plate forward of the
centerboard trunk. See it here:
http://www.rhodes22.org/rhodes/pics/VistaJay5.jpg if you look just aft of
the hose, you will see a rectangular plate with a finger hole near the
forward edge.

Also, it would be really hard to describe how this works, but there is a
removable floor plate dorectly over the centerboard cap. This will give you
access to the cap for maintenance. I can remove mine without removing the
settee... Just the drawer and the companionway step's vertical support (over
the trunk).

I don't have any better pics than those already on the site.

Regarding wall coverings, most now have exterior carpeting glued to the
hull. You can see it in berth1.jpg. I don't know why other wall treatments
wouldn't work, but a good soft exterior grade carpeting works well.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] restoring a 76 Rhodes

Hello All,
As many of you know I ma restoring a 1976 Rhodes 22.
At this point I have removed everything that is not fiberglassed into the
cabin. This week I will cut out the 3 rotten stringers and the questoinable
one (under the bench)and begin the rebuilding process. I have a few
questions for you all.
1) Please explain to me how the bench turns into a sleeping area?
2)When I put int he new floor what do i need to leave accesable?
3)Does any one have some good pics of what I can do with the cabin(I have
already looked at the ones on the site)?
4) what can I cover the interior walls of the cabin with other than marine
vinyl?
thanks for you healp.
Alan?
