[Rhodes22-list] Secure furled jib?

Bob,

Dynamic Equilibrium has a Harken Unit 0 roller furler vs. the GBI roller
furler like your boat has.  The Harken roller furler uses a #6 luff tape to
secure the luff of the headsail to the extruded aluminum furling foil.  So,
if high winds are in the forecast, I can completely remove my headsail.
However, unless severe weather is forecast, I usually leave the 150% genoa
rigged on the roller furler.  When I leave the boat for the day, I've found
a Velcro cinch strap wrapped around the sail just above the clew is very
effective at preventing accidental unfurling, will never jam when you want
to remove it, and doesn't chafe the sail.

Look in the 2005 West Marine Master Catalog on page 859.  The 18" X 1"
Velcro cinch strap, West Marine C/N: 134692, @ $7.49/pair is the appropriate
size for this application.
